Transplant Type - Kidney

Cortney has endured health problems her entire life. As a baby, she was diagnosed with focal sclerosing glomerulosclerosis, which caused scar tissue to build up in her kidneys. Doctors now say a kidney transplant is critical to her survival, and she is currently undergoing evaluations in hopes to be added to the transplant waiting list soon.

Despite her health challenges, Cortney is a great student, and she hopes to begin college this year to pursue a career in the medical field. Cortney’s family can’t help but worry about her health issues, especially her mother, who wants nothing more than to see her little girl get better. She stays active by working part time as a restaurant hostess, reading, writing, playing on the computer and spending time with her family and friends. She dreams of one day having the energy to be as active as her friends, and she would love to go out and enjoy life without constantly worrying about her health. But right now, she and her family need your help.

The average kidney transplant costs approximately $250,000. And that’s only the beginning. Even with health coverage, she faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very pricey, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Cortney. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Texas Transplant Fund, 5350 Poplar Avenue, Suite 430, Memphis, TN 38119. Please be sure to write "in honor of Cortney Reid" on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
