Transplant Type - Heart/Kidney

In 2007, Dan was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and cardiomyopathy. Doctors say a heart/kidney transplant is essential to his survival.

Battling these health conditions has been hard on Dan and stressful for his wife, Fallecia, and their children and grandchildren. He is thankful for the love and support of his family and friends, and he looks forward to returning to his normal way of life—especially going back to work—after receiving his transplant. Right now, he needs your help.

The average heart/kidney transplant costs more than $1 million. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant medical expenses related to the surgery. He will need a lifetime of follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. These medications are very costly, and they’re as important to his survival as the transplant itself.

When he receives his transplant, Dan must temporarily relocate 50 miles from his home to be near the hospital during recovery, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food and lodging. Because of his declining health, he is currently unable to work as a sheriff’s office deputy, adding to the financial strain.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Dan. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Louisiana Transplant Fund, 5350 Poplar Avenue, Suite 430, Memphis, TN 38119. Please be sure to write "in honor of Dan Ragas" on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
